Kano Court Sentences Opay Agent To Nine Months In Jail For Doing This Silly Thing

An agent of Opay, Rabi’u Isah Gaida, was sentenced to 9 months in prison.
He was sentenced to prison by a Kano Shari’a court sitting in Kwana Hudu on Friday.

He was charged in Sharia court with breach of trust, fraud, and theft of 300,000 nairas of a certain Zubairu Murtala through an online bank transfer.

Prosecutor Aliyu Abidin told the court that the victim (Zubairu) complained that the defendant stole his N300,000 through an online transfer without his consent when he gave the phone to open an Opay wallet account for him.

The defendant pleaded guilty after the charges were read to him, saying he used the money to bet with BetNaija. The presiding judge of the trial, Nura Yusuf Ahmad, sentenced him to three months for treason and six months for theft and ordered him to repay the stolen money of N300,000.
