President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi both congratulated Israel Adesanya on regaining his UFC middleweight belt in Ultimate Fighting Championship 287.
On Sunday, April 9, the professional mixed martial artist knocked out his opponent, Alex Pereira, to claim the UFC middleweight belt.
In a message via Twitter, Tinubu applauded the boxer for not giving up hope despite having failed in his previous title attempt.
“Congratulations to Israel Adesanya #stylebender on reclaiming the UFC Middleweight Title. He never stopped believing in himself and we did not stop believing in him. #NaijaProud,” he wrote.
The Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi also took to the micro-blogging platform to send his wishes to Adesanya.
“By decisively knocking out his opponent and regaining his UFC Middleweight Title last night, Israel Adesanya @stylebender proved that persistence is the path to reclamation. Congratulations valiant Champion!… – PO,” he noted.
