Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed concern about protests in several parts of the state following the Naira overhaul.
According to the governor, in a statement he appealed to the protesters, saying there was no need to resort to violence because the Supreme Court was aware of the incident.
Riots have spread across the state politically, with Mile 12, Ojota, Ketu, Agege, Ikotun, and Epe, among others, falling into turmoil.
Riot police were deployed to various hotspots while Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa inspected the hotspots.
Speaking on the matter, Sanwo-Olu, through Commissioner for Strategy and Information Gbenga Omotoso, expressed “deep concern”. According to the statement, protesters “will be angry that the Naira overhaul and its scarcity have caused so much hardship and confusion for our people.”

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu believes that violence is unnecessary as the Supreme Court is reviewing this controversial case and will announce its position on February 22.
