All Progressive Congress, APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu is leading after Saturday’s general election.
On Monday evening, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, released the combined results from 20 states.
Tinubu leads with 5,862,453 votes, while Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has won 4,288,434 votes so far.
Labor Party’s Peter Obi, LP, is currently in third place with 2,834,932; Rabiu Kwankwaso, New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, interviewed 1,315,549 people.
Interestingly, Tinubu was the only major contender not to win the Host State, losing to Lagos to Obi. Atiku won in the state of President Muhammadu Buhari – Katsina. Results from other states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, are expected to be presented today starting at 11 am.
The International Convention Center, ICC, in Abuja, home of the National Reconciliation Center, remains under tight security.
The opposition on Monday called for a suspension of the publication of the results. PDP’s Dino Melaye and Emeka Ihedioha at some point left the ICC.
The parties have complained about irregularities, excessive voting, and officials’ refusal to upload results to INEC’s website, among other things. Testing by PRESLOADED showed that out of 176,846 polling stations in 774 local government areas, results were submitted from 79,673 points.
