Naira Scarcity: “That’s the price Nigerians have to pay” – PDP’s Adetokunbo Pearse praises Buhari

Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a member of the Presidential Election Commission of the People’s Democratic Party, applauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision on the Naira reform policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Pierce delivered the award in a statement made public to journalists in Lagos on Friday, urging Nigerians to stay calm and show an understanding of politics.

The PDP leader appealed to the Nigerian public to remain calm and show understanding of politics, saying on Thursday’s broadcast that the president’s apology for the difficulties politics had caused was appropriate and acceptable.

His approval came amid controversy and criticism of the implementation of the redesign policy.

The president has been criticized for the policy for several quarters, including by several governors in his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).

However, the PDP leader claimed in a statement that those most critical of the policy are known to buy votes.

Pierce said the suffering would be short-lived and, as the president said, the discomfort would soon end.

“But that is the price people have to pay for an improved economy, more credible elections, and a safer society.

“This is a case of short-term pain for long-term gain. I noticed that the loudest protest is coming from politicians, who are well-known for vote-buying. As the president has indicated, there is an end in sight for this discomfort. This is less than two months away, which is immediately after the 2023 general elections.”
