Senate President Ahmad Lawan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Christians in Nigeria as they joined their brothers around the world in commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In marking the momentous occasion of Easter, Lawan urged Christians to reflect on the meaning of this holiday season.
The Senate president said that just as they celebrate Easter because Jesus conquered death on the cross and his resurrection revives the hope of eternal life, they too should pray for peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
He said the occasion would boost hopes for their nation’s victory over current nation-building challenges and better days to come.
He also called on all Nigerians, especially religious leaders, and clergy, to pray for a peaceful political transition in Nigeria. Lawan also called for prayers for God’s blessing and guidance for upcoming governments at the national and state levels, including the 10th National Assembly and the upcoming congressional chambers.
