How I Knew That Leaked Phone Call Between Obi & Oyedepo Was Fake, Journalist Says

A veteran Nigerian journalist and political affairs commentator, Chuks Akunna has deemed the alleged leaked phone conversation between Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo to be fake.
In an interview on Independent Africa Television’s “Kaakaki”, Akunna pointed out that as a journalist, he knows that some phone calls are not made on open platforms and are not encrypted. He thought Obi and Oyedepo wouldn’t be so careless to have a conversation like this.

Akunna further argued that the hasty way in which the conversation was pieced together suggests that it could be a profound spoof.

Akunna points out that the alleged chat had a number of differences, including the inclusion of a dialed call ringtone, which is not a standard feature in recording apps. He said recording apps typically start recording when a conversation begins, not during the ring phase of a call, and this inconsistency has raised doubts about the authenticity of the audio being leaked. Leakage.

He criticized the media company that first published the recording for failing to meet journalistic standards and acting hastily without conducting thorough checks.
