Oyakhilome Bello, APC U.S.A’s National Youth Leader, has called on US President Joe Biden to defend Nigerian democracy against those calling for an interim national government or military takeover.
According to a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, Bello appealed at a rally organized by the American APC subdivision led by Professor Adesegun Labinjo, held in Lafayette Park, Southwest Quadrant, Washington DC.
He said the protest was against a protest organized by individuals belonging to the opposition to protest the results of Nigeria’s February 25 presidential election and the election of Senator Bola Tinubu as president. elect. He added that the protest was meant to show solidarity with the president-elect and let the world know that he (Tinubu) won the election.
“The rally is meant to show solidarity for the task that was given to Tinubu for free by Nigerians at the polls and to let the world know that he is the winner of the election held by INEC, the electoral body. election of Nigeria declared.
“We will stand up for the voice of the majority of Nigerian voters because we have gone too far in letting a select few destroy what we have built for decades,” the youth leader said. APC USA said.
He said Nigerian democracy may be in its infancy but it has come a long way, adding that no extortion force from the opposition camp should be allowed to annul it.
He added that Tinubu, the president-elect, and the vice president-elect, Sen. Kashim Shettima, will be inaugurated on May 29.
Bello, who said he was among Nigerian voters queuing to cast their ballots in an election he described as credible, free, and fair on February 25, said opposition parties should accept defeat honorably.
“I find it hard to believe that some few individuals that are dissatisfied with the outcome of the election results will go to the extent of calling for an Interim National Government, or a military take over as against a democratically elected government instead of accepting defeat, this is most unpatriotic and undemocratic behavior,” he said.
The APC U.S.A Youth Leader also called on Nigerians to come together and work with the President-elect and the Vice-President-elect for the greater good of the country.
He added that now that the elections are over, it is now time to come together with all hands on deck to enthrone a Nigeria that is the desire of all.
