The Rivers State chapter of the Progressive Congress (APC) broke away from President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two-day visit to the state at the invitation of Governor Nyesom Wike.
As Information Nigeria previously reported the president-elect is expected to travel to Rivers State on Wednesday and Thursday to operate an overpass and justice building under construction by Governor Wike’s administration.
Finally, in an effort to encourage people to take to the streets and greet Tinubu, Wike has declared Wednesday a public holiday.
But, APC spokesman for Rivers, Darlington Nwauju, in a statement Tuesday, questioned Wike’s reasoning for the invitation, alleging that he had said he would never associate at APC.
The party continued to call on Wike to stop trying to sow division among opposition political parties.
