EFCC, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, deployed its staff to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to oversee Saturday’s polls.
The anti-corruption agency said the deployment was part of an effort to ensure the integrity of the presidential and parliamentary elections on February 25, 2023.
EFCC President Abdulrasheed Bawa directed the officials to take care of the national interest and show high professionalism in carrying out their duties.
Bawa said that as part of a national mission, he expected them to act in accordance with the committee’s values of professionalism, integrity, and courage.
The president noted that it is their responsibility to “make sure that the election is free from financial instability, especially inciting voters.” The EFCC has also published incident reporting hotlines for all 36 states and Abuja, urging citizens to report the buying, and selling of votes or other evidence of financial misconduct.
Members of the public may also report anyone attempting to buy or sell votes using the EFCC’s financial crime reporting application, Eagle Eye.
