BREAKING: Policemen Shot Dead At INEC Collation Centre

Two police officers were killed and two others injured during clashes between soldiers and police at the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) Consolidation Center in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, on Monday.
Witnesses said a minor disagreement between soldiers and police guarding INEC headquarters in the state turned into a crisis that lasted nearly an hour.

According to the sources, the army, who shot the police officers from the INEC assembly center, then stormed into the police headquarters and chased the officers on duty.

According to a source, the injured police officers are currently being treated at the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo.

Vehicles parked inside the police headquarters are believed to have been vandalized during the incident. The sporadic gunfire caused panic among residents as shops, markets, and homes were closed.

At a joint press conference, State Police Commissioner Suleiman Amodu said a high-level investigative committee would be formed to determine the cause of the incident.

The conference was attended by the Commander of the Nigerian Army 6th Brigade, Jalingo, Brigadier General Frank Etim, and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS).
