Reno Omokri, a front-line campaigner for the Atiku/Okowa presidency, has called on the federal government to prosecute Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi if he declares treason.
Omokri made the call in a tweet on Wednesday.
He is responding to Tuesday’s warning from Information and Culture Minister Lai Mohammed that Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, are at risk of being prosecuted for treason because of certain claims their review in the February 25 presidential election.
Muhammed said Obi and his running mate are inciting people to violence because of the election results.
Recall that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) also fined Channels Television 5 million nairas for allegedly violating the NBC code during a show featuring Baba-Ahmed. Baba-Ahmed, in an interview with the station, said that Tinubu did not meet the conditions set forth in the 1999 section of the (amended) Constitution to be elected president.
The Secretary of Information is in Washington speaking to international media organizations and think tanks about the recently concluded 2023 poll, such as the Washington Post, Voice of America, Associated Press, and Foreign Policy Magazine.
