ATTACK ON GODDAY NMORDI FAMILY BY SUSPECTED FULANI HERDSMEN CLAIMS ONE LIFE
The Incessant attack by suspected Fulani Herdsmen on agrarian communities has claimed the life of late Mark Nmordi, the third son of Mr. Godday Nmordi of Ewuru Community in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area on Saturday, November 20th , 2021.
Speaking in tears, the bereaved father, Mr. Nmordi lamented that he is heartbroken losing his third son to herdsmen attack. According to him, “My first and third son, Dennis Chukwuyem Nmordi and late Mark Nmordi, my brother, Mr. Sunday Nmordi, and three other workers were on my farm at Owa-Oyibu when the herdsmen, nine in number invaded my farmland with their cattle and all efforts to stop them made them hit my 19 years old late son with a big stick.
“It was around noon when one of the doctors at Aladinma Hospital, Owa-Oyibu, where my late son was rushed for medical attention came to inform me that he had given up the ghost because of internal bleeding”.
Crying aloud, Mr. Nmordi stated that he is now a victim of herdsmen attack, revealing that the worst is that it claimed the life of his son. Now the fear of attack by Fulani herdsmen, rape, and killing has compelled many farmers to abandon their farms, and the people of Ika in general are not spared the attack.
“What a painful experience to see my son struggled to live and eventually died”, he further lamented.
He said the matter has been reported at the Owa-Oyibu Police Divisional Headquarters, Owa-Oyibu for investigation.
Meanwhile, some persons who reacted on condition of anonymity for fear of their lives condemned the recurring herdsmen attack, lamenting that the police are doing nothing to curb the menace which according to them has not only claimed lives but inflicted on the people hunger especially the people living in the agrarian communities where their major preoccupation is farming.
