What Would’ve Happened If Ayu Resigned Before Elections – Shehu Sani Reacts To PDP Crisis

Senator Shehu Sani said the outcome of the presidential election would not be in favor of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, even if the party’s president, Iyorchia Ayu, resigned.
The social commentator said so in a tweet in response to the current leadership crisis that is rocking the main opposition party.

At least five governors elected under the PDP, before the general election, demanded Ayu’s resignation as the only condition for working for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ayu’s refusal to step down led to the creation of G-5 governors who worked for candidates from other parties in the just-ended poll.

G-5 Leader and Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike praised his team for ensuring that Atiku was defeated in the election which made Bola Tinubu of the All Radical Congress, APC the winner. Shehu, in the tweet, felt that nothing would change if the G-5 were to match Atiku, citing their inability to win elections in their various states.

Sani wrote,

“The fact is that even if Ayu had stepped down before the election, nothing much could have changed because those opposed to him were also struggling to survive and in the end, could not help themselves much.

“Ayu met the party in the City of Sodom and tried his possible best and led it to the desert of Gomorrah”.
