UKRAINE: US has imposed a ban on Russian oil and gas imports.

President of the United States, Joe Biden, has imposed a restriction on Russian oil and gas imports.

The decision was made in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The president said the US is targeting the pillar of Russian economy by banning all importation of oil and gas from the country. The United States is a big purchaser of Russian crude oil.

On Tuesday, President Biden broke the news in a post on his verified Facebook page.

“Today, I’m announcing that the US is targeting a major artery of Russia’s economy,” he stated. All Russian oil and gas imports are prohibited.”

Recall that President Biden sought the cooperation of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom for an embargo on Russian oil imports during a video conference call on Monday.

Despite pleas for a ceasefire, Russian soldiers have refused to abandon their war against Ukraine, which has resulted in the deaths of people and a massive refugee problem.

Several nations including Nigeria have evacuated some of their people from Ukraine as Russian soldiers continue to wreak havoc since it’s invasion.
