A reprisal cult attack has claimed the life of a 52year old police officer.

The hienous crime was said to have occurred at the cool hours of
Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The victim identified as a Police officer, Mr. Nwachukwu Emmanuel, according to a reliable source, was a father of a rival cult member, Nwachukwu John, who was declared wanted by the hoodlums over a renewed war between rival cult groups terrorising the community.

According to a reliable source who pleaded anonymity, he described the attack as unfortunate and barbaric, disclosing that Nwachukwu John who happened to be the only child of the deceased, was the major target.

He said the target, Nwachukwu John, has gone into hiding at the time of the rivals invasion that unfortunately claimed his father’s life.

“Officer Nwachukwu whom we know to be a generous police man, was sitting at the front of his house when the assailants came. But because they could not find his son being their target, they shot him, leaving him to die.

“Operatives from the Alihagwu community vigilante were the ones that removed the corpse and deposited it at the mortuary of Central Hospital, Agbor,” the source narrated.

The testimony of another source, disclosed that not less than four (4) persons have been killed in the cult war, confirming that Mr. Nwachukwu assailants were three (3), and all youths.

He solicited the intervention of the police as well as stakeholders of Agbor kingdom, to take proactive measures to stop the cult war as people are now living in fear.
