In a statement released on Monday, Army spokesman Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed the incident, saying troops killed and ambushed terrorists’ crossing point along the Banki Junction-Miyanti road to prevent terrorists’ logistics and replenishment from moving.

The terrorists who were caught on July 15 were alleged to have “surrendered to troops along with their families, while leaving their enclaves, following the relentless shelling of their hideouts by troops of the Battalion.”

 

They were allegedly apprehended by troops in the Miyanti and Darajamel areas of Borno State on the outskirts of Aza and Bula Daloye villages in the Bama Local Government Area.

Eleven adult male terrorists, five adult female terrorists, and twelve youngsters were among the suspects arrested, according to the statement.

The suspects were also found to be in possession of 27 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, three AK 47 rifle magazines, and a black fragmented jacket, according to the military. Preliminary inquiries are still underway.”

 

Similarly, during a cordon and search operation in Lawanti and Gongolun Communities of Jere Local Government Area of Borno State on July 17, troops of 7 Division Garrison, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, tracked and arrested Boko Haram informants and logistics suppliers, based on credible intelligence.

During early investigations, the suspects admitted to serving as informants for the terrorists, providing information on troop movements, positions, deployments, strength, weapon caliber, and other operations, according to the army spokesman.

“They also admitted to providing the terrorists with basic logistics for their daily survival, including petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), medications, mosquito nets, kola nuts, recharge cards, and food,” he continued.

“The suspects also revealed that the terrorists paid them with revenues from the sale of dismantled old motorbike parts to dealers to support their purchases.
