The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of the complaint of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu until September 14.
Recall that the agitator Biafra, on 3 November 2022, filed an appeal to the Supreme Court against the Court of Appeal’s decision to stop his release from DSS custody.
However, Kanu appealed the October 28, 2022 decision of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the execution of the previous order, acquitted him of all charges, and ordered his release from undercover police custody. Before the hearing, Kanu’s special counsel urged the Supreme Court to ensure justice in his client’s trial.
During Thursday’s proceedings, the Supreme Court approved a request by Abubakar Malami, Federal Attorney General, to file additional proceedings in response to Kanu’s filing, made on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court said that even if they proceed with an appeal hearing, there is no place in the 90-day timetable for drafting and delivering a ruling.
The case was therefore adjourned to September 14.
