Shock as grandpa found dead in pool of blood on the road

The untimely death of Skinot Letswelo has left his family shocked and they’re trying to come to terms with the reality that he is no more.

The 60-years-old madala from Arthurseat outside Acornhoek in Mpumalanga he was found lying in a pool of blood dead after he was knocked down by a speeding car on the R40 Roads that connect Bushbuckridge and Acornhoek on Friday, 5 February 2021.

The Madala’s cousin Olian Mokoena told the publication that they received a call that someone had been hit by car on the roads and they immediately rushed to the scene and on their arrival they recognized that the deceased was their relative.

“We don’t know what happened that led him to be hit by this car but it’s clear that the driver was over speeding”.

“This death it’s hard and unacceptable to us as a family and we feel that we have been robbed of our Mkhulu”. Said Mokoena.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Meanwhile, Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Gabisile Shabalala urged motorist communities that they should refrain from crossing overflowing rivers and streams because they will be endangering their own lives.

“We want to remind drivers to keep their headlights on when driving during the rain, keep adequate following distance and reduce speed particularly when visibility is reduced to avoid accidents”, she said.
