Residents Scamper For Safety Over Soldiers invasion in Anambra Community…houses, farm set ablaze

Residents of Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have been thrown into parpeble fear and scampers for safety following the invasion of the Nigeria soldiers.

It could be recalled that the troop of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army currently conducting a special operation in the South-east, Exercise Golden Dawn, have killed four members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), during an encounter in Anambra State.

A soldier was also killed during the gun battle which took place on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Ekwulobia community and subsequently, led to the reinforcement of the force to repeal the attack.

It was also reported that after dislodging the dissidents from their fortress, the soldiers recovered 10 pump action shotguns, two locally fabricated guns, one revolver pistol, live cartridges, machetes and IPOB flags.

The above, as gathered by the News Agency, led to the present unrest in the local government as the invasion of the soldiers continues with a view of flushing out the gunmen under IPOB.

However, the situation had gone beyond normalcy as residents who are now in parpeble fear, have started fleeing the community to seek refuge elsewhere.

According to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, decried the negative effect of the soldiers invasion, saying their operation has not only brought untold hardship, but has rendered many residents homeless as properties such as houses and farm businesses were allegedly distroyed by the soldiers.

He said, the soldiers would distroy properties of any suspected IPOB members, adding that one of the victims was the CEO of Sidu Farm, Mr. Ikenna Onyegaekegha, who narrowly escaped the soldiers attack.

He alleged that Mr. Ikenna farm worth millions of niara was set ablaze by the soldiers for being an IPOB member.

“We are no longer save in our community as those who are expected to protect our lives and properties are now the ones killing us.

“We are calling on the Anambra state government to put every machinery in place to save the lives of innocent people who have been displaced and now helpless,” he pleaded.
