Presidential election: You didn’t like Igbos, you voted for Atiku instead of Obi – Wike blames Amaechi

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike criticized former minister Rotimi Amaechi for saying he loved the Igbo people.

Amaechi, as he moved through the Diobu area of Port Harcourt to campaign for the All Progressives Congress APC candidate of the week, said Igbo blood ran through his veins.

Amaechi says that when he was governor of the state, his government favored the Igbo people, of which he also claims to be a part, punishing the current Wike government for not being fair enough to the Igbo people.

However, when speaking to supporters of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at a rally ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial and state assembly elections in the state, Wike wondered how Amaechi could claim to love the Igbo people but refused to support Labor Party candidate Peter Obi for the presidency but instead voted for PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar.

“You think you’re smart, but you’re not. You say you like Igbo, but you support Atiku. You have declined to support Obi. If you don’t know Igbos, you must support them.

“How many years have you been minister, what have you done for the Igbo people? What are you doing for the Igbo people? When he ran for president, he said power should go south.

“When he lost, he stopped believing and said that power should go to the North. While the North is done, they’ll give it to him,” Wike said.
