Presidential election: Amaechi voted for Atiku, he’s no longer APC leader in Rivers – Okocha

Tony Okocha,  former Rivers State Government Chief of Staff and a member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State, alleges that former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi voted for the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in February. 25 presidential elections while still a member of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Okocha alleged that Amaechi’s actions were the culmination of anti-party activity, saying he had long since quit the party.

He revealed this while speaking to reporters in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Okocha also stated that Amaechi is no longer the leader of the APC in Rivers State.

“It is clear and certain that our former leader, Rt Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, became the leader of the party under the pretext that he was the incumbent Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“On the eve of the presidential election, he ordered his supporters to vote for the PDP presidential candidate.”

“And he, we recorded that he voted for the PDP candidate, Atiku.

“This, of course, disqualifies him for leadership and, Okocha, who was on my side to win the election for our presidential candidate, is now the leader of the APC in the State. Rivers.”

Recall that Atiku came in second in the presidential election.

The former vice president is behind APC’s Bola Tinubu, who won the election with more than 8 million votes.
