President Buhari- NFF to hold election in September.

 

The president of the Federation , His Excellence President Muhammadu Buhari has giving directive to the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) that they should commence with the process that will lead to the electing in its new executive committee at the expiration of the current administration in September.

His Excellence also instructed that the instrument of football administration in the country, be amended and attended to so as to include other stakeholders, who has been denied equal representation in the NFF congress.

In a letter addressed to Amaju Pinnick, NFF President, dated June 17, 2022 and signed by Youth and Sports Development Minister, Sunday Dare, Buhari, urged the leadership of the NFF to ensure that the amended statutes reflect the national yearnings and aspirations of Nigeria as a sovereign nation, while aligning with the lay down principles and objectives of football as set by the world soccer governing body, FIFA.

Also, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, a former chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, has appealed to those interested in the NFF presidency thus coming September elections to exercise restraint.

About five interested aspirants, comprising one administrator and former Nigeria internationals, has shown kin interest in the NFF top job.

Alhaji Ahmed aslo stated that – “I think it is rather too early for such declaration to be made by anyone yet. There is the issue of statute that has not been sorted while the NFF Congress will still have to seat and draw out the electoral guidelines as well as announce the election date,”

There are also Stories that the former Gombe FA chairman has been hinted by some football stakeholders, including politicians, civil servants, and public figures I’m Nigeria to declare his interest in the NFF top job.
