Peter Olayinka Oladeji (born November 18, 1995) is a professional footballer from Nigeria who plays as a left winger or forward for Slavia Prague and the Nigeria national team, Super Eagles.
Peter Olayinka was born on the 18th of November, 1995, in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state, which falls in the Southwestern region of Nigeria.
Olayinka began playing football with Baba Boss, a local neighborhood team in Ibadan, before moving to the 36 Lion FC football academy in Lagos. In January 2012, Olayinka joined Bylis in the Kategoria Superiore after initially playing for the club’s under-19s because he was only 17 years old at the time. During the 2012–13 season, he was promoted to the senior team under Agim Canaj, and on October 20, 2012, he made his professional debut in a Kategoria Superiore game against Lufttari. He replaced Jetmir Sefa in the 84th minute of the team’s 2-0 victory.
After the 2012–2013 season ended, he drew interest from both domestic and international clubs. It was reported that FC Porto in Portugal made an offer of €500,000 to Bylis but that he declined it. Olayinka requested a release from the club’s contract in the summer of 2013, but Bylis also approached FIFA, who ultimately found in the club’s favor because Bylis was still bound by the contract. Bylis then exercised the option to extend his contract, making it impossible for him to play for another club without their consent. For the 2013–14 season, he joined Yenicami Adelen because the North Cyprus Süper Lig is not recognized by FIFA.
He contributed to the club’s first Süper Lig championship in 20 years by scoring 8 league goals in 21 games. As his team was defeated in the finals, he also scored six goals in five games for Federasyon Kupas, bringing his club total to 14 goals in 26 games.
Olayinka allegedly signed a contract with Kuksi, but on August 28, 2014, he signed a contract with Sknderbeu, the current Albanian champions. He was seen as a replacement for Pero Peji, who had just transferred to Kuksi.
Olayinka joined the Sknderbeu team in time for the 2014–15 campaign. On September 19, he took part in his club’s first-ever match, a 0-0 away draw at Apolonia, for which he played the full 90 minutes.
Before the 2015–16 Kategoria Superiore season began, he traveled back to Albania in August and rejoined Sknderbeu, where he was able to resume playing after completing his suspension.
On September 12, 2015, Olayinka scored both goals in a 0-2 away victory against newly promoted team Trbuni, giving him his first league goals of the 2015–16 campaign.
Olayinka committed to K.A.A. Gent for €1.1 million over a three-year period. In July 2016, he signed a loan deal with Dukla Prague of the Czech First League. Olayinka left Gent on July 21, 2018, and was signed by Slavia Prague on a four-year deal for €3,200,000.
Peter Olayinka was frequently mentioned as a potential first foreign player for the Albanian national football team due to his talent. Olayinka stated that if he obtained an Albanian passport, he would be willing to play for Albania. He was, nonetheless, selected for a Nigeria vs. Brazil international friendly match in September 2019.
Peter Olayinka is happily married to Yetunde Barnabas, a Nigerian model, actress, and film producer. The couple got married in March 2021.
