Ogun: I’m The Governor, I Can Arrest Anybody – Gov Abiodun Blows Hot

Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial and House of Representatives elections in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has threatened to issue arrest warrants for anyone threatening his supporters on election day.
The governor told his supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to give in to intimidation on election day.

He was speaking on Sunday in his hometown of Iperu-Remo, in the state’s Ikenne local government area.

A viral video showed the governor boasting that he could order anyone’s arrest as the state’s chief of security.

Like Abiodun, his big rival in the gubernatorial race and the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Adebutu, is also from Iperu – Remo.  The governor also alleges that his opponents began importing political thugs into the town of Iperu-Remo ahead of Saturday’s election.

Abiodun, who spoke in Yoruba, told his cheering supporters that jubilation awaits them if they elect him in the upcoming election.

“Don’t allow anybody to intimidate you on election day. I am sure you know that I am the governor, I am the governor of this state. I am the chief security officer of this state and I can (order) arrest (of) anybody.

“They (opponents) can go about grandstanding, but it’s of no effect. I’m a gentleman. But like they say, the gentility of a tiger is not a symbol of timidity.

“I learned some people have started importing thugs into Iperu, If I lay my hands on them, I deal with them and their thugs decisively,” the governor said.
