Naira Scarcity: Tinubu denies telling Nigerians to ignore Buhari’s orders 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) rejected claims that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, encouraged Nigerians to ignore President Buhari’s directive on the new naira notes.
In a statement on Friday,  Bayo Onanuga, Director of Communications and Publicity for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, confirmed the allegation was an attempt by opposition groups to divide Buhari and Tinubu.

Onanuga described the report as fake news, pointing out that Tinubu never made the announcement on behalf of Asiwaju Tinubu.

He declared:

“Our attention has been drawn to fake viral news published by the Peoples Gazette, claiming Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate has asked APC governors to ignore President Muhammadu Buhari’s broadcast and enforce the Supreme Court ruling on the recirculation of old naira notes.

“The message quoted by Peoples Gazette was being randomly shared on WhatsApp. Mr. Alake was not the author.”

Onanuga suggested that Tinubu had called for calm as authorities tried to find a solution to the currency crisis and also offered a six-point suggestion to ease the agony Nigerians face when trying to get money. from commercial banks.

According to him,  Tinubu ordering APC governors to disregard President Muhammadu Buhari’s orders on monetary matters is unthinkable and unthinkable.

Therefore, Onanuga urges journalists always to confirm their materials’ authorship with the Campaign’s Publicity and Communication Department.
