Agonizing tears flowed freely among family, relatives, political associates and friends as the body of late Tunde Oritsejiafor was laid to rest in his home town Akure, Ondo state over the weekend.
Speaking to relatives of the deceased, our local correspondence Chika Anyanwu, gathered that the late Tunde was brutally murdered by unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of a rival political party, during the just concluded 2015 presidential elections. It was also gathered that the deceased as he was fondly called “Tunee” was a dedicated People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member, who was always at the forefront of his party activities.
The late Tunee’s wife, Fumilayo Oritsejiafor sadly added that her late husband could not realize his dreams of becoming a father as he was killed just two months before the arrival of their baby, at the tender age of 37. She further expressed fear and worry over the sudden disappearance of her husband’s boss, Mr. Philip Fidelis, who according to her may have been killed and his body dumped in an unknown location, disclosing that after the death of her husband, he has been missing.
Our reporter gathered that Mr. Philip Fidelis was the leader of a twelve-man political party campaign team in the area. Meanwhile, as at press time, no one could attest to have seen Philip Fidelis, and his conspicuous absence during the burial of Mr. Tunde spoke volumes.
As many in attendance during Tunde’s funeral lamented that political assassinations have recently risen to an uncontrollable point in Nigeria and it’s the dream of every individual to see the end of this barbaric social crisis.
