Man Beat His Father To Death After Smoking

Nicodemus Ignatius, a 31-year-old man from Adamawa State, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 75-year-old father.

Nicodemus, a resident of Unguwan Bistel in Song town, Song Local Government Area, committed the crime on March 3, 2022, immediately after returning from a bar.

PUNCH Nicodemus allegedly threatened to kill his father on many occasions in November of last year, prompting police to apprehend him. However, out of pity, the father filed a lawsuit to have his kid released from police custody.

“Nicodemus had gone home from the joint where he typically drinks at approximately 8:00 pm on that fateful day and encountered his late father and mother in the room and decided to lock both of them up,” a neighbor told our correspondent.

“However, the 75-year-old Ignatius, feeling danger and fearing that his son would set the house on fire, leaped out the window to flee.” He had no idea that his son had since picked up a stick.

“The suspect, wielding the stick, leapt on his father and struck him with the stick, shattering his head and killing him prematurely.”

The suspect admitted to killing the father while under the influence of marijuana after the crime was reported to the police.

Nicodemus, who couldn’t come up with a clear reason for his father’s death, said,

“On that fateful day, I smoked Indian hemp and sadly regret my decision.”

DSP Suleiman Nguroje, Adamawa State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence and said the suspect will be charged in court soon.

After the inquiry is completed, he stated the accused will be charged in court soon, and he warned the public not to take laws into their own hands.
