Ahead of Saturday’s election, LP state presidents in each of the league’s 36 states, according to Presloaded News, predicted the defeat of Peter Obi.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Gombe LP President Sani Abdulsalam said Peter Obi could not win the polls on Saturday because he had dismissed all state presidents and refused to rally for election campaign activities.
Abdusalam also claimed that Peter Obi disrespected party leaders and neglected them to work with his close friends.
He is said to be accompanied by the Vice President of the Country (Northeast), Mohammed Alkali, and the President of Yobe State, Ibrahim Bukar, among others. Abdusalam said Peter Obi’s negligent actions tend to affect the party’s performance at Saturday’s polls, noting that he chooses to work with close friends and support groups, saying he We don’t trust state presidents.
But in a conversation with TheCable, LP campaign council spokeswoman Yunusa Tanko said the party is focusing on conscientious voters rather than those waiting for funds.
Tanko said state presidents could not prevent Obi’s impending victory, adding that there were no side issues as alleged.
He said:-
“Nobody is boycotting any election because the election is already on. And nobody is sidelining anybody.
“People are expecting conventional way of politics which is not feasible in our own place. And then the issue of probably mobilisation money for elections, which is what people are used to, and they’re not seeing it.
Now, there’s no money anywhere on the ground. It’s about your conscience and if you believe in a movement. That’s all. Nobody should expect any money from somewhere.
“That’s where the problem is but as far as we are concerned, nothing is stopping us. We are continuing our movement and voting will commence in the next 24 hours. There’s no problem.”
