Senator Adamu Aliero, the former governor, won the senatorial election of Kebbi Central, defeating incumbent President Atiku Bagudu.
Bagudu is the President of the Forum of Radical Governors, PGF, the governing body of the All Radical Congress, APC.
The Independent National Election Commission, CENI, announced the results on Tuesday in the capital, Birnin Kebbi.
Professor Abbas Bazata of Federal University Birnin Kebbi said Aliero received 126,588 votes compared to Bagudu’s 92,389.
Aliero’s supporters have warned INEC not to interfere with the expected results announced on Monday. Exactly three weeks ago, the legislature announced that the people of the state would vote against the APC in the general election.
