“Kano Gov-Elect, Abba Kabir, To Revisit Sanusi’s Dethronement” – Kwankwaso Breaks Silence

New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has broken his long silence on the removal of former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and established new emirates in the ancient city of Kano.
Kwankwaso, who is commenting on the matter for the first time in a long time, said the new government of Governor-elect Abba Kabir Yusuf will reverse the decision of the incumbent Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s government.

Recall that Sanusi was dethroned on 9 March 2020 and banished from Kano to Loko, an isolated community in Nasarawa State, and after some intervention was allowed to resettle in Lagos State.

Ganduje also divided the emirate into five and appointed the emirs as supporters.

Speaking in a viral video, Kwankwaso said dethroning and splitting the emirate would be considered by the government of Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor-elect.

According to him:

“We have campaigned and as you know we are popular in Nigeria, especially in Kano state, we are now back and God willing we will continue with the good works our administration left. This incoming governor and his team will take them up.

“As elders, we will continue to advise them to do the right thing. We tried not to intervene in the issue of bringing or removing any Emir, but now, an opportunity has come.

“Those who were given this opportunity will sit down and see to the issues. They will look at what they are expected to do. Beside the Emir, even the emirate has been divided into five places. All these need to be studied. Usually a leader inherits good, bad and issues that are hard to reconcile.

“We prayed for God’s intervention to grant the incoming governor wisdom to be able to handle and put things right in the state,” Kwankwaso however prayed.
