INEC declares Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency election inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  declared that the election for the Northeast Ibadan/Southeastern Ibadan Federal Constituency was inconclusive.

PRESLOADED reported that elections were held on Saturday in the two local government districts that make up the federal constituency.

Returning officer Dr. Akanni Lawanson said on Monday that the election was inconclusive.

Lawanson spoke at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

He explained that he could not declare the winner of the election because the number of permanent voter cards (PVCs) collected in some units where the election did not take place or was canceled exceeded the border. the degree between the two main candidates.  Lawanson said the difference between the two was about 650 votes while the PVCs in question were more than 1,200.

He went on to say that INEC could hold elections in the affected areas.

Lawanson said, “The last couple of days we’ve been going through a snacking phase. Two local government results were sent to me and based on what was sent, I clarified the content of what was sent. with the agent in each of these LGAs.

“The condition is that I compare the information and come up with a concept of the delay taking into account the cases where the election did not take place or there was an annulment. “The number of PVCs for which the election is canceled or not held should be considered and compared with the margin ahead. When the advance is greater than the total PVC collected at the polling places where the election is not held or is canceled.
