IGBANKE: LAND DISPUTE CLAIM 3 LIVES
Tragedy struck the neigbouring Igbanke and Ottah Communities in Orhionmwon Local Area of Edo State as three persons including the Chief Priest of Ottah Community, Bernard Ohue were reported killed over a land dispute.
According to information gathered, Igbanke and Ottah have been engaged in a protracted land tussle over the ownership of a parcel of land between their boundaries which resulted in enmity between the two communities.
The renewed dispute broke out on June 4 2015 when angry youths from Igbanke stormed Ottah to question the brutal murder of one of their elders, Mr. Johnson Okwuzigwu on his farm near the area of the disputed land.
It was further gathered that the chief priest of Ottah, Bernard Ohue lost his life during a peace talk with youths from Igbanke.
The policemen from the Igbanke police station were said to have attended to the situation very late, only to meet the lifeless body.
The crisis made the only son of the slain Johnson Okwuzigwu, Johnson Chuks who was reported to have led the Igbanke youths to Ottah to flee for dear life as the youths of Ottah are bent on killing him in retaliation for the death of their chief priest.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo State Command, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie on behalf of the command has condemned the brutal killings and sued for peace
