Former President Olusegun Obasanjo requested results from polling stations where the dual system of voter recognition (BVAS) has not been used must be discarded.
Obasanjo also asked not to accept results that have not been uploaded to the servers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Obasanjo said so in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday as he spoke during Saturday’s presidential election.
Obasanjo told Buhari and INEC President Mahmood Yakubu: “Although the BVAS and servers were manipulated or inactive, these results should be declared invalid and not acceptable for election reporting.
Balogun Owu has warned Buhari that tensions are growing across the country demanding that the unreliable elections be rejected and held again on Saturday. “Sir, all elections that do not pass the test for reliability and transparency will be annulled and returned to the regions where the elections were interrupted next Saturday, the 4th. March 2023, at the same time BVAS and server officials are changed.”
The former president said an INEC personnel committee is being formed with representatives of the four main political parties to find out which offices or polling stations have been manipulated.
Obasanjo said the president of the Nigeria Bar Association is expected to also serve on the committee, asking members to “consider what needs to be done to have a smooth election next Saturday.”
