Guber election: INEC boss, Mahmood Yakubu being manipulated – NNPP candidate, Oba-AbdulRaheem

Ahead of the March 18 election, Prof. Shuaibu Oba-AbdulRaheem, the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for Governor of Kwara state, said that Mahmood Yakubu,  Chairman of the Independent National Election Commission (NNPP) INEC) has been manipulated by a number of people.

According to Oba-AbdulRaheem, he knew Yakubu to be an honest and upright person.

Oba-AbdulRaheem spoke to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Friday in Ilorin.

“The law is there to protect the poor people,” he said. “The preparation was very poor and it was different from the Mahmood Yakubu character I knew.

“I know he is an honest and upright person, but I think he is manipulated by some people.

“INEC’s conscience has been shaken as it appears to be a tool that corrupt people can use to destabilize Nigeria,” he said.

Keep in mind that the gubernatorial election, originally scheduled for March 11, has been moved to March 18 to allow INEC to reconfigure its “BVAS” dual-mode voter recognition system.
