Guber election: Be careful of your utterances – Gov Lalong warns traditional rulers

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state on Thursday urged traditional rulers to be cautious in their behavior and statements as Nigerians elect leaders at different levels.

Lalong made the appeal during the eighth Long Piapung coronation of the Piapung Nation, Miskoom Lawrence Nashel, at TRCM School, Pianpung,  Mikang Local Government Area ahead of the March 18 gubernatorial election.

He said: “Although I urge His Royal Highness and all other traditional leaders to be careful with their behavior and words during political season.

“I urge you to continue to support us by ensuring that those who come after us have a vision and uphold our legacy.”

The governor added: “Those privileged to hold these positions must perform their duties on the basis of trust and transparency.

“I urge you to avoid any action that oppresses people or puts undue pressure on them.”

Lalong praises Long Piapung and urges him to be passionate about improving the welfare of his people by helping them to escape poverty, illiteracy, disease, and crime.
