A former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani, accused legislators in various state assemblies in Nigeria of docility.
Some governors will resign on May 29, either after completing two terms or because they lost the March 18 gubernatorial election.
Rumor has it that some outgoing governors have acquired cars, houses, and other expensive items within three weeks of their terms ending.
This is possible, says Sani, because the state congresses are subordinate to the governors, thus approving whatever is presented to them.
“Outgoing governors are allocating billions to themselves because there is always a docile and subservient states house of assemblies to approve of it,”
Sani said.
