How well have you guarded your gate?
How well have you sustained the life you were given as a watchman
How long have you waited at the gate of the city
To see who comes in and who goes out?
Oh Priest!
How well have you preserved your altar?
How well have you sacrificed upon this altar?
And burnt the sacrifice on it day and night
But yours in once in five days
Why?
O Gatekeeper!
You were sent to watch over Jerusalem
But see how the mighty has fallen under your watch
How did this great city become like the city of babylon?
Filled with atrocities, iniquities detestable?
The Gatekeeper who was sent to watch over city
Has left the robbers, the thieves, the devourers to consume the land
And now, the land is in ruins.
O Priest!
You are the Gatekeeper of your city!
The City is You! Your life!
The gate is your heart!
Guard your heart with all diligence because out of it flows the issues of life.
Whatever you feed your soul with is what you get as a reward.
Filter what goes into your heart
Filter what grows in your heart
Feed your mind with the word of God
Don’t let the devil in
Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
Oh Priest!
Keep the fire burning on your altar.
The fire in your altar protects your gate.
