Ekweremadu: ‘They’ll Kill Me In Nigeria,’ Victim Pleads To Stay In UK For Work

David Nwamini, the so-called kidney donor in the organ trafficking case that sent Ike Ekweremadu, 60, a former deputy speaker of the Senate, to 10 years in prison, says he wants to stay and work in the kingdom He is like his life. would be in danger if he returned to Nigeria.
Nwamini’s statement was read out in court where, during sentencing, Ekweremadu’s wife, Beatrice, 56, and medical mediator, Obinna Obeta, 51, were jailed for 4 years, 6 months, and 10 years, respectively.

As Information Nigeria previously reported, at the Old Bailey, three men were found guilty of conspiring to arrange a young man’s journey in order to exploit part of his body.

The donor was found by Ekweremadus and brought to the UK for their 25-year-old daughter, Sonia, who has severe kidney disease.

David alleges that he was approached with the opportunity to work in the UK, something he had always dreamed of but never thought would happen.

“He (Dr Obina Obeta) did not tell me he brought me here for this reason. He did not tell me anything about this.

“I would have not agreed to any of this. My body is not for sale.

“I worry for my safety in Nigeria. Those people can do anything. I think they could arrest me or kill me in Nigeria.

“My plan now is to work and to get an education and to play football,” David said, adding that he does not want to claim compensation from the “bad people” as it would be “cursed and bad luck.”

According to him, someone visited his father in Nigeria and asked the father to get him to drop the case.

The Ekweremadus were arrested on June 21, 2022, last year as they arrived at Heathrow Airport.
