The Minister of Public Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has asked the Senate Ad Hoc Committee to direct an investigation into the unpaid land rent of 6 trillion naira against the Minister of the Federal Government, SGF.
Fashola said so on Wednesday when the committee visited him in Abuja.
The commission, chaired by Senator Adamu Aliero, has been tasked with investigating and recovering more than N6 trillion naira from non-payment of ground rent on properties built and allocated by the federal government to the federal government. many beneficiaries.
During the commission’s visit, the Minister explained that the President’s Implementation Committee, PIC, which issues receipts for assets under the control of the SGF, is not him.
“As long as your letter seeks to ask us to account for the PIC, they don’t report to us.
“I will advise you to direct your enquiries about what the PIC does to the SGF. I cannot account for them since the organisation does not report to me,”
Also, speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Aliero disclosed that about N18 billion had been recovered as efforts were being made to get the balance.
