BREAKING!!! Presidential Election Tribunal Begins Hearing Monday

Next week, Monday, the Presidential Electoral Petition Court will begin hearing lawsuits challenging Bola Tinubu‘s claim by the Progressive People’s Congress, APC, as Nigeria’s elected president.
This means that the legal battle for candidates challenging the announced results of the 2023 presidential poll will begin on May 8.

This date has been confirmed by the national legal adviser of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmad El-Marzuq.

According to El-Marzuq, the APC’s legal team has been briefed and stands ready to defend the party’s mandate.

Independent National Election Commission (INEC) Chairman Mahmood Yakubu announced Tinubu as president-elect on March 1.  Tinubu collected 8.8 million votes to beat Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who got 6.9 million, Peter Obi of the Labor Party, LP who collected 6.1 million, and 15 others.

Since then, Atiku and Obi have filed separate petitions seeking orders to cancel the election or declare them the winner.
