Ali Yakubu a businessman has been sentenced to prison for referring the Adamawa State Governor as the “Father of All Thieves”

For reportedly labeling the state governor a thief, a businessman in Adamawa State has been remanded in prison detention.

Ali Yakubu, a businessman, is accused of referring to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as “the father of all thieves.”

Ali Yakubu, who was hauled before Magistrate Japhet Basani of Chief Magistrate Court II in Yola on Monday for mocking Fintiri on social media, was sentenced to a Correctional Center.

On the 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 20th, and 29th of July, 2021, he was charged with posting insulting and defamatory words in Hausa and Fulfulde on his Facebook page against Fintiri.

Governor Fintiri, he said, was a thief, the father of all Nigerian thieves, who stole indomie, spaghetti, and billions of naira.
