Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, described the governor of Rivers, the G-5 group led by Nyesom Wike, as irrelevant in the just-concluded presidential election.

Melaye said the Wike-led group cannot claim glory because it lost to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

Remember that Wike, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Oyo State have all withdrawn their support for the PDP nationwide following the results of the primary election. set in May 2022.

Wike, who had vowed to support whoever showed up in the primaries, broke his promise but instead began to oppose Atiku and the PDP in word and deed, along with four other governors forming G5.

But no G5 governor has won the election to represent their senatorial constituencies in the tenth National Assembly, while Makinde is currently sweating to retain a second term. his two. However, Melaye said that Wike and his team were unable to win the senatorial seat; therefore cannot claim the glory for the loss of Atiku.

In a tweet, Melaye said Wike only helped the Progressive All Peoples Congress, APC, through violence.

He wrote:
“The G5 has nothing to do with the presidential election that just ended. The G5 unable to bid for the Senate cannot be the party to claim glory after Atiku’s defeat. Even Wike, beyond the brutality and coercion of INEC officials, contributed nothing to the APC votes in Rivers.
