2023 Presidential Election: Wike is disappointed that BVAS does not recognize him and his wife 

Rivers Governor Nysome Wike expressed frustration with the functionality of the “BVAS” biological voter recognition system; a machine deployed by the Independent National Election Commission at the polling station.
Wike arrived at Polling Point No. 7 in Ward 9 of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area with his wife, Judge Suzzette Eberechi Wike at around 10 a.m.:

However,  BVAS cannot recognize the Governor and his wife as the primary voters of the depository unit.

After more than 20 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, an election official called for the first members of the family to return.

The manager said technicians would be deployed to fix the outage. Evaluating the implementation process after a long wait, Wike describes the process as a failure because he was frustrated with the functionality of his voting machine.

He said: “INEC should have put all its tools in order in advance.

“We are very disappointed. INEC told us they were ready for the election and the BVAS machines were working.

“You can see the crowds here; I don’t think most people will be able to vote with the sluggish BVAS. “I was here for about 25 minutes. I was told to go and come back.

“We are very disappointed. If some people were disenfranchised, what would you expect? People will be swept away and anything can happen. “INEC should have been completely ready before telling people they were ready,” he said.

The governor also expressed concern that a mechanical failure could derail the election.
